College Closures

Ref:   JAS/VAR

16 September 2022

Dear Parent/Carer

The College will be closed on Monday 19 September as it is the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  This day is a Bank Holiday.

Open Evening – Thursday 29 September 2022 – Early Closure of College

The above date is our annual Open Evening for prospective Year 7 students and their parents.  The evening allows students and parents to visit and tour the College.

In order that final preparations can be made, the College Day will be re-organised on Thursday 29 September.  The effect of this is that on Thursday students will leave to come home from College at 11.55 am.   Current students at the College should only attend the College during Open Evening if they are guiding, demonstrating, or otherwise helping, for which they will receive a separate letter requesting your permission for them to attend.  Students who receive free school meals should go to the restaurant at break time to collect their lunch.

The timing of the evening is 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm.   It is likely that there will be some traffic congestion at those times, so please allow for this if you are picking up or dropping off your child.  We are very pleased that so many students want to help at this key annual event.

Thank you in advance for your support and co-operation on this very important day for the College.

May I also take this opportunity to remind you that Friday 30 September 2022 is a Professional Learning (INSET) Day, and the College will be closed to students as indicated on the College Calendar.  A full list of term dates and Professional Learning (INSET) Days for 2022-23 are to be found on the College Website.

Entrance to and Exit from the College.  From Tuesday 20 September students may enter or leave the College either at the back or front gate.  Students are requested to wait in the morning in their allocated areas of the College site prior to the bell that indicates the start of the day.

Yours sincerely

Mrs J A Summerfield
