Thank you for supporting a successful return to learning. We have been pleased with the way in which students have embraced their learning. Students are demonstrating respectful behaviours and working well with their Teachers and each other to make the most of all the curricular and extra-curricular activities. It is good to see students arrive early and leave after College, having participated in the enrichment that has been on offer.
The community aspect of working together at HTC which is something we are very proud of, is stronger than it has ever been. The HTC family have been pleased to be back and the educational provision for students has been first class. The students are happy, keen to learn and willing to try out new things. Amongst the many successes already this term we have seen the opening of our state-of-the-art all-weather sports pitch which we know will be well utilised by students and the community for years to come. This is a superb asset to HTC.
We look forward to welcoming back the students after a well-deserved half-term break into term 2, we will return on a week 1 at 8.25am on Monday 1 November. The Autumn term is the longest in the academic year where teaching is the most concentrated, full attendance during this time benefits your child. At the same time, we return at one of the darkest times of the year after the clocks go back on the 31 October. We highlight to students the importance of being vigilant when they cross roads or cycle. Please be reminded that punctuality to College is important and every student needs to be on site by 8.25am daily, to allow lessons to start promptly at 8.30am.
This letter contains some information which we would be grateful if parents can support.
Please ensure that the students wear their blazers and their tank tops, we are now moving into the cooler part of the year. Students should not be wearing hoodies, instead of which they should wear a dark coat over their blazer. A reflective silver coat purchased for safety reasons is acceptable.
There have been positive cases of both staff and students in the College. The College is no longer required to track and trace, this is carried out by the NHS. We are pleased that we have been able to provide a full curriculum this term and will encourage all the community to follow the hygiene guidance to limit the spread of the virus. We will bring in further measures if required to do so.
Please continue to encourage your child, to test twice weekly at home over the half-term period, and test on the Sunday evening or Monday morning before the return on Monday 1 November 2021.
Vaccinations for COVID.
All the paperwork from the NHS for the 12-15 vaccination programme for COVID was sent last week and you will have received a paper copy of the consent form for the vaccination. These need to be returned to Student Services by Friday 5 November for the vaccinations to take place the following week on Tuesday 9 November, Wednesday 10 November and Thursday 11 November.
NHS England will soon be opening an additional offer for 12 to 15 year olds to obtain their COVID-19 vaccine out of school, such as through vaccination centres. This offer will run in parallel to the in-school vaccination programme. Parents of children aged 12 to 15 will receive a letter from the NHS with more information on the vaccination programme shortly, including information about how to book an appointment out of school, if this option is preferred.
The flu vaccinations will take place on Monday-Wednesday 13-15 December. The paperwork and consent forms will be sent nearer to the date.
Thank you for reading this letter and thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions about your child’s education please contact their Form Tutor, Class Teacher or Year Leader who will be pleased to support you.
From all in the HTC family, we wish you a restful, safe and enjoyable half term holiday.
Mrs J A Summerfield
