28 February 2022
We welcomed the students back this morning to what will be a busy term as we move towards the Easter period. Year 11 and 10 have the public examinations imminent and we are currently engaged in the Pre-Public Examinations in preparation for the final exams. There is much support available for our young people, if you have any concerns about your child and preparation for the final examinations, please do contact the Tutor, Class Teacher or Year Leader.
The Ukraine situation is of concern to all of us and we are conscious of this particularly for our young people. We have encouraged staff to talk about this with students using a helpful fact sheet.
Students and staff are no longer required to wear masks, they still can do so if they want to. We will maintain good ventilation and encourage all members of the community to be hygienic as precautions for all our safety.
We are no longer required to undertake twice-weekly asymptomatic testing, supplies of LFD tests will not be available.
The Government has removed the legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test. Adults and children who test positive will continue to be advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least 5 full days, and then continue to follow the guidance until they have received 2 negative test results on consecutive days.
In addition, the Government has stated:
There is no longer a requirement for fully vaccinated close contacts and those aged under 18 to test daily for 7 days, and the legal requirement for close contacts who are not fully vaccinated to self-isolate has been removed. Routine contact tracing has ended, and contacts will no longer be required to self-isolate or be advised to take daily tests. Staff, children and young people should attend their education settings as usual. This includes staff who have been in close contact within their household.
Thank you for your support and co-operation, it is much appreciated.
Mrs J A Summerfield
