WW1 Commemoration

13 November 2018

Dear Parents/Carers

I thought you would like to know that your children during the Remembrance Service yesterday showed great respect for those who served their Country and gave their lives in past conflicts.  All members of HTC stood in silence while a reading was given and the Last Post was played by the students.  In the last week there have been a number of activities that have been organised by the History and Art Departments that have enabled students to learn about the past events and give thanks to those who gave their service.  Yesterday all Departments led learning about living at that time and we were impressed with how inquisitive students were about the different aspects of society.  Students also contributed by creating commemorative bunting as DIY which was displayed around the site.  Our Commemoration is also marked by the clay poppies that are placed on the roundabout, the weeping window of poppies in A Block and the displays in Barton Hall Foyer.  We were also impressed with the number of students who came dressed in their uniforms representing the Forces that they serve.  Our Commemoration is also featured in The Portsmouth News.

As Headteacher I was proud of all our students.  They were a credit to themselves, HTC and you as parents and carers.

Yours sincerely

Mrs J A Summerfield
